Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ,
so that whether I come and see you or am absent,
I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit,
with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.

The Lord's Faithless Bride

Wallowing in blood, oh the mess that I am. I stand and I fall.
My heart gives way, my lungs collapse, as I try to face it all.

Filthy I am, unable to live in the midst of myself;
Unworthy I am, broken and unclean, struggling for help.

Till the time you passed by, unknowing it was you, leading me in love.
You placed life in my bones, blood in my veins and praise on my tongue.

Clothed in fine linen, nakedness covered, a new covenant began.
I became Yours, a bride adorn, beautiful I am.

Renown I knew, royalty was mine, so my trust in my own beauty grew.
Forgetting my need, my lust and my greed, began to replace You.

Unfaithful I am, a heart of stone, so you scattered all my pride.
My enemies grew number by number, faced on every side.

Your people they fought, but not by Your strength,
so the battle was bound to be lost.
The broken chosen needed a Savior, the one to pay the cost.

Waiting we were, attempting to obey, yet fully fearing man.
Till Jesus Christ came to set us free, now freedom is our land.

For Your name and renown, not for ourselves, but for Your glory alone.
Now there’s praise on our hearts, for you are Our Rock;

                                                            The only Cornerstone.

[inspired by Ezekiel 16]

"if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself." 2 Timothy 2:13
